Contemporary craft practices are increasingly moving away from a singular understanding of cultural heritage, while still remaining in dialogue with it. Tradition is no longer seen as a closed set of forms and techniques, but rather as a point of reference – material for reinterpretation, negotiation, and personal storytelling.
Today, makers engage with craft not only as a method of production, but as a tool for constructing meaning. Objects become carriers of memory – intimate and emotional, often extending beyond national narratives of “Polish design.” In this context, craft reveals itself as a living practice, rooted in the present, capable of preserving what is fleeting. Everyday life gains particular significance – its rhythms, landscapes, and experiences subtly permeating the forms, colors, and textures of objects. It is within the tension between place, memory, and individual experience that a new language of contemporary craft emerges.
We invite you to join a conversation on what craft means today and what role tradition plays within it.
