The fabric dyeing workshop with vegetable dyes is a course where you will learn the secrets of natural colour. During the meeting we will focus on plants, the sourcing of dyes, the creation of dyes and, of course, dyeing. In this workshop you will create a colour palette from a variety of plant materials, local and exotic. You will dye linen and cotton fabrics in unique patterns, inspired by the ancient Japanese art of printing. The meeting has a theoretical part, as well as a practical part (dyeing). You’ll surround yourself with lots of educational material from the atelier, fabrics and yarns dyed naturally, volumes of the plant colour sampler which has been in development since 2014, and inspiring stories about dyeing.
During the meeting you will:
* learn about vegetable dyes for fabrics and yarns
* learn how to create simple patterns on fabric using techniques from Japan
* learn about local plants with dyeing properties that you can find in the garden, meadow or forest
* learn about exotic species of dye plants
* learn how and when to collect and store raw materials for dyeing
* learn how to prepare natural dye
* learn how to prepare natural dye * learn how to stain and dress with basic dye products
* receive recipes for 100% natural and vegetable colours
What will you gain:

We provide all materials, fabric, plants, tools, aprons. It is worth getting a notebook as there will be a lot of knowledge. You take with you hand-dyed fabrics made from natural fibres and valuable experience.
Dzikie Barwy atelier – we are a colour atelier. Dzikie Barwy has been running its original educational and artistic workshops since 2014. The courses are related to plant dyes and their use in the arts, mainly in printing and textile dyeing. In our classes, we often draw on the knowledge and recipes of ancient craftsmen, botanists and artists and pass this on in a way that is close to a modern audience. The genuine passion and many years of experience of the instructors arouse curiosity, which is satisfied in practical activities.
