Adam Juszkiewicz. Photo-essay – outline, genre
The “Photo-essay – outline, genre” is a reflection on relations between image and word in artistic and scientific expression. The speaker will reflect on the role of photo-essays in the practice of cultural phenomena. He will confront the works of selected artists and will juxtapose several points of view and research styles. The presentation will be a story about a hybrid genre used by both photography theorists, photographers, photo-reporters and scientists. For the author, photo-essay in a dynamic, liquid culture has also become a carrier and adequate form of contemporary expression.
Adam Juszkiewicz, a Bydgoszcz photographer, is a populariser of photography and author of many photographic projects He works in portrait and documentary photography on a daily basis. He teaches visual culture and engages in social imaging practices. He graduated in journalism and social communication, philosophy of culture and photography. Scholarship holder at the City Council of Bydgoszcz. He was an editor of the “Regional Geographic” – a photographic and tourist magazine. Author of the photographic book “Encrypted Bydgoszcz.”
