The exhibition “Masterpieces of Polish painting in the collection of
the Lvov Gallery of Art” comprises works of fifty Polish artists
working from the end of the 18th century till the beginning of the
20th century.
It is an overview of Polish painting from the reign of
Stanislaw August, through the period of over 100 years of national
bondage, to the regain of independence and the appearance of avant
garde movements and attempts to find a “national” face of Polish art.
