Currently (2011.05.31 – 2011.06.10)in the capital of Albania there’s an exhibition of Bydgoszcz artists, titled „Unik” (Dodge). This event was possible due to the earlier exhibition of the Balkan artists in Bydgoszcz. The „Garden of Dreams” at the Municipal Gallery bwa in Bydgoszcz (10.12.2010-27.02.2011) was the largest foreign exhibition of Albanian art in the world.
„Dodge” is presented in two places: Academy of Fine Arts and the private KLEDIO Gallery. „You’ve shown us the Garden of Dreams, we present ourselves in such a way that we emphasise what is most important for us as Polish artists. What matters most is the identity. Unfortunately, nowadays not genuine values are promoted, but what is in fashion and popular in the West. I hope that countries such as Albania and Poland will retain their own identity and will protect themselves against the waves of globalization” explained Wacław Kuczma, director of the Municipal Gallery bwa, in the largest Albanian newspaper „Shekulli”. The works, contemporary painting, drawings, graphics, films, photographies and installation are presented by: Wacław Kuczma, Marta Bindek, Jan Gordon, Ewa Gordon, Jacek Piątek, Marcin Sauter, Jerzy Riegel, Grzegorz Pleszyński, Krzysztof Gruse, Tomek Dobiszewski, Aneta ?ramska, Wojtek Woźniak, Dorota Kuczma, Piotr Kuczma, Remigiusz Zawadzki, Kuba Elwertowski.
The Polish Embassy in Tirana is the honorary patron of the exhibition. The curators are, as in the case of the „Garden of Dreams”, Wacław Kuczma and Fatmir Miziri. The vernissage took place on May 31st, the exhibition is open until June 10th.
