The exhibition celebrating 50th
The exhibition for the 50th Anniversary of the Association of Polish Artists (ZPAP), Bydgoszcz district, presented at the Municipal Gallery bwa and in the Leon Wyczółkowski Regional Museum in Bydgoszcz. The curator of the exhibition is Jarosław M. Daszkiewicz (art historian, Warsaw).
The names of the artists whose works were selected by the curator for the ZPAP’s anniversary exhibition: Piotr Badziąg,
“Selecting the paintings, I chose conscious subjectivism as a criterion. That’s because I believe that only personal judgments are the most sincere and authentic. The pertinence of artist’s expression, his technical skills, truth and power coded into the work, ideological message, properly selected technical means – all these are important things, but things that are decisive remain Unspoken.
The image is created by its viewer. But on what does the viewer base his subjective judgment? The most important is the authenticity of a work, its uniqueness, something that distinguishes it from other works. It’s the artist’s very own signature. To acquire it and retain, it is worth to take into consideration the observation of a French poet and critic Paul Valery: “There is nothing more original, more personal than feeding on the work of others. The point is to digest them well. Lion is made of digested mutton.” I wish this to all the participants of the anniversary exhibition, also to those who weren’t noticed by my unreliable eye today. Because today, I made a selection like this. Tomorrow, in a month’s time, in a year – that selection would definitely be a bit different.” (Jarosław M. Daszkiewicz, March 2008)
