The Municipal Gallery bwa in Bydgoszcz is a beneficiary of the project ‘Universal Design in Culture – Accessibility in Cultural Institutions’ – Task 3.1: A comprehensive training programme on the design, development and implementation of accessible cultural offerings.

“Universal Design in Culture – Accessibility in Cultural Institutions” is a project that addresses the issue of accessibility and the inclusion of people with disabilities and older people in the activities of cultural institutions. Its aim is to improve the accessibility of cultural institutions in the planning and delivery of their programmes. The State Fund for the Rehabilitation of Disabled People is a partner in the project.
“Universal Design in Culture – Accessibility in Cultural Institutions” is funded under Measure 3.3 ‘Systemic Improvement of Accessibility’ of Priority III ‘Accessibility and Services for People with Disabilities’ of the European Funds for Social Development 2021–2027 programme.

The basis for all project activities is the Accessible Culture Model, developed jointly by the State Fund for the Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the Culture Without Barriers Foundation and an international partner – the German Kompetenzzentrum für Kulturelle Bildung im Alter und inklusive Kultur – as part of the Culture Without Barriers project, funded by the European Union.
The model presents a novel approach to implementing accessibility in digital media, drawing on innovative concepts: the accessibility domains framework, the user journey concept, and the steps involved in implementing accessibility.
