The Municipal Gallery bwa in Bydgoszcz participates in the “Culture within reach 3.0” project.
The Municipal Gallery bwa in Bydgoszcz has launched the “Culture Within Reach 3.0” project, co-financed by the European Union under the Regional Programme “European Funds for Kujawy and Pomerania” for the period 2021–2027.
This project represents a further step towards the modern, digital development of the cultural and regional heritage sector. It is being implemented by the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship in collaboration with 66 partners – local authority cultural institutions and universities.
The main aim of the Project is to comprehensively modernise the region’s cultural offering. The initiative aims to implement innovative solutions that will not only improve access to online resources, but also enhance the region’s appeal and competitiveness. In practice, this means, amongst other things, equipping institutions with modern digitisation equipment and multimedia technologies – such as video walls, holograms and augmented reality (AR) tools. At the same time, digital communication channels will be developed, including professional facilities for online streaming and systems to improve user services, such as RFID technology enabling contactless borrowing of items. The whole project will be based on a comprehensive and secure ICT infrastructure.
The project has been designed with a wide audience in mind. A key group are the region’s residents, for whom digitalisation means easier and more equal access to culture – regardless of where they live or their social circumstances. Modern tools, such as mobile applications and interactive guides, will also provide valuable support for tourists visiting Kujawy and Pomerania. Researchers and history enthusiasts, meanwhile, will gain convenient access to online archival resources, whilst staff at cultural institutions will enhance their digital skills through specialist training.
The project will result in modernised, state-of-the-art digital products, including the Virtual Museum of Kujawy and Pomerania and the Guides to Kujawy and Pomerania. As a result, culture will become more accessible, engaging and better equipped to meet the challenges of the modern world, thereby supporting the development of a modern information society.
