ART AT HIGH NOON! WORKSHOPS FOR SENIORS
Subject: Tracing the wax with a needle
Presented by: Jędrzej Kubiak
At our meeting in March, we will take a look back at a time when the only widely available method of recording sound was to ‘cut’ it using a special stylus – into a wax-coated cylinder or disc. We will also be showcasing an original 80-year-old American Presto machine, which we will use to record audio postcards together.
Art in the High Noon
A series of meetings devoted to art and culture in a broad sense, addressed to people aged 60+. The meetings offer discussions on contemporary art, and creative activities that develop cognitive processes, improving manual dexterity by learning different art techniques and forms of art.
Jędrzej Kubiak: restorer of vintage gramophones, jukeboxes and analogue record-cutting machines; organiser of historical re-enactments – recording sessions using original, vintage equipment.
