Maria Chomentowska – born on 14.06.1924, died 07.03.2013) is regarded as one of the most outstanding designers in the history of Polish design since the Second World War. But that wasn’t all – she passed on her knowledge to future generations and wrote articles on applied art. From the early 1950s, she was professionally associated with the Warsaw Institute of Industrial Design (IWP), where her most recognisable work – the ‘Płucka’ chair (1956) – was created and remained at the design stage (a small series of 50–60 pieces was produced in the IWP workshops) and never went into mass production. In 1976, Maria Chomentowska began working with the Catholic University of Lublin. To this day, lecturers and students continue to make use of her projects.
Agnieszka Wysocka – PhD in art history, lecturer at Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz. Researcher of architecture and cultural phenomena of the 19th and 20th centuries.
